Dear Parents,
September has been an exciting month for us and we are off to an amazing start! God’s joy, protection, peace, love and presence have been incredibly evident every day! We have enjoyed learning about safety (the firefighters were great), meeting new friends, and getting reacquainted with old friends this month. Our Meet & Greet gatherings were fun and productive! Thank you Room Moms for doing an excellent job of welcoming and informing the families about this year’s events. Please contact your Room Mom if you didn’t make it to Meet & Greet so you can sign up for a class party this year! Also a HUGE thank you to Jennifer Cavazos for coordinating volunteers and helping the kids make their tie dye t-shirts. Your generosity in donating snacks and supplies has been overwhelming and extremely helpful-THANK YOU!!
Throughout October, we will be learning about the season of fall, our family, respecting the rights of others and putting others first. We will be taking pictures, celebrating harvest at the on-site pumpkin patch field trip (watch for more details), learning about bones with Captain Carl, bringing in share items and riding in the annual trike-a-thon fundraiser. Please check the monthly calendar for more details.
We do not celebrate Halloween but focus on Harvest this month – no costumes on October 31st please.
October Reminders:
*October tuition is due on the 1st of each month. Thanks for your promptness!
*We have a few openings in our 2 & 3 day a.m. classes and also our afternoon learn & play program! Please let us know if you want to add afternoon sessions and send any interested folks our way – Thank you!
*Picture days are October 2 (for 2 classes) and October 3 (for 3 day & TK classes). Please sign up via the email that was sent out earlier.
*On October 9 (2 and 5 day classes) & October 10 (3 day classes) we will be having an on-site Pumpkin Patch from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.! 🙂 Wear a harvest or your Lil’ Lighthouse T shirt! This event is our “October field trip” so you have already paid for this event in your activity fee. One parent is to attend per child. We will not have our regular school day either day. Please watch for a flyer coming via email!
*Captain Carl will be visiting on October 16 & 17, during class, to learn about bones.
*Share days will be on October 23 & 24 this month for 2 & 3 day classes. We encourage you to help your child pick out a special book, nature treasure, tape, etc. to go along with this month’s curriculum. Please do not send toys, guns, etc.-thank you! TK does not do monthly share as they have “star of the week”.
*Please have your child bring his/her “backpack” to preschool everyday. Always keep an extra set of LABELED clothes (underwear, shirt, pants or shorts and socks) in a zip lock bag inside the pail in case of toileting “accidents” or water play spills. Check your child’s backpack daily for Art projects, notes and forms!
*Please contact the preschool office at 949-631-7294 or 949-209-7114 if your child is sick, if you have a change of address, phone number, or authorized pick up person or if you need to set up a time to talk to your child’s teacher.
* PLEASE SIGN YOUR CHILD in and out daily! This is a state regulation and there is a large fee if we get cited which will be passed on to you. Thank you!
*We ask that you would be prompt in picking your child up every day. Please refer to our late pick-up policy as outlined in our Parent Handbook. Thank you for being considerate to your child.
*Please remember to send your child in closed-toe shoes and play clothes. Girls are to wear shorts under skirts/dresses for modesty.
*Lighthouse Community Church meets every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. with Sunday School during the service on the Preschool side. Please join us.
*As part of our master plan agreement with the City of Costa Mesa, it is mandatory that all parents and visitors park in the main church parking lot at all times. You are required to walk your child through the side door of the worship center and sign him/her in and out on the sheet provided daily. The preschool staff will be there to welcome and dismiss your child to you or an authorized adult. If you arrive early for any session, please keep your child with you in the car until it is time to sign him/her in. Should you arrive late for drop off or plan to pick your child up early from the classroom, please park in the main church parking lot and walk him/her across the street at the designated crosswalk on the corner of Magnolia St. and Santa Ana Ave. only. Please help us in honoring Lil’ Lighthouse Preschool’s agreement with the City of Costa Mesa in following these procedures.
*In case of a black out or emergency disaster, or if you cannot reach us on the landline, we have our cell phone on for you to contact us. Please note the number and keep it in a convenient place
(949) 209-7114.
*October is “apple picking time” at Oak Glen! We would like to suggest a family outing to Riley’s Farm in Oak Glen where you can pick your own apples, make cider, eat corn on the cob, see the farm animals and enjoy the fall weather! Directions to get there are- take the 55N to the 91E (towards Riverside) to the 60E (towards Indio) to exit 79 Highway at Beaumont. Once you take the exit, go left and stay on Oak Glen Rd. through Beaumont for about 5 miles up the mountain to Riley’s Farm on the right side shortly after the big red apple sign. It takes 1.5 hours and is open all week. You can also go into Oak Glen for other fun activities and yummy food!!! Enjoy God’s wonderful creation this month with your family!!
